Transfers within the European Union (EU)

Personal data can move freely from Belgium onwards and within the European Union as long as the general principles of the Belgian Privacy Act are respected.

Thanks to European Directive 95/46/EC Member States have the same level of protection for the processing of personal data. Consequently, transfers within the EU are subject to the same rules as transfers in Belgium, and the general principles of Belgian privacy legislation need to be respected (including legitimacy, compatibility of the disclosure with the original processing operation, information to data subjects).
