Forum « the consequences of the judgment in Schrems case »

The Belgian Privacy Commission is organizing a forum on the consequences of the Schrems judgment on 18 December 2015

The Privacy Commission is aware of the fact that the judgment of 6 November 2015 has raised numerous questions and therefor wants to provide answers and allay concerns of the stakeholders. The following speakers have already confirmed their participation: Mr. Damien Moreau of the FPS Justice, Mrs. Nathalie Ragheno of the FEB, Mr. Patrick Van Eecke of the law firm DLA Piper, Mr. Christopher Kuner of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), Mrs. Anna Buchta of the European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS) and many others.

The afternoon will be divided into 3 different panel discussions.The first panel will focus on the establishment and the evolution of the Safe Harbor agreement. In the second panel, companies will have the opportunity to explain the problems they are confronted with and in the third and last panel a presentation will be given on US law regarding data protection v. European law. At the end of each panel, it will be possible to exchange ideas and to ask questions related to that matter.

How to register ? You can register through the form available on the website of the Privacy Commission until Monday 14 December 2015. The registration fee amounts to 100 € per participant. Attention : the number of registration is limited. 

The discussions will be held in English, Dutch or French. No simultaneous translation will be provided.
