Competences

The competences of the Statistical Oversight Committee were laid down mainly by articles 15,15bis, 24septies and 24octies of the Law of 4 July 1932 on Public Statistics.

The Statistical Supervisory Committee can:

  • authorize the disclosure of encoded research data to third parties by the General Direction for Statistics and Economic Information;
  • authorize the confidentiality contract regulating the disclosure of the data by the General Direction for Statistics and Economic Information to third parties and the use of the data by the third party;
  • formulate recommendations;
  • give its opinion on draft decisions;
  • carry out certain investigations.

Data can only be disclosed if a motivated request is submitted.
