I would like to send personalized electoral propaganda. Can I use data from an existing database that was not specifically composed for political purposes?
No. Political parties and their representatives can be tempted to use existing (public and private) databases to send personalized electoral post. Examples of such existing databases include:
- the registers of the registry office;
- associations’ lists of their members;
- the National Register.
It is not authorized, however, to use these databases because they were not composed for the elections. Personal data can only be processed for explicit and legitimate purposes. They must not be used in a way incompatible with those purposes.
