To make sure that citizens can trust these technologies, the Commission wishes to highlight their rights.
With respect to public and private users of such technologies the Commission's tasks are also to:
- raise citizens' awareness of their fundamental rights;
- make sure these fundamental rights are respected;
- safeguard information security and citizens' privacy with concrete measures.
At national and international level the Commission wants to:
- act as a recognized leader;
- be considered as a reference point;
- assist in drawing up relevant regulations for information security and privacy;
- ensure and promote observation of those standards.
