Since 1 January 2004, the Commission has had its own budgetary resources as an institution under the supervision of the Belgian Federal House of Representatives.
For the year 2011, the Commission has been allocated 5,516,000 euros, supplemented by 300,000 euros and 224,000 from the 2008 and 2009 reserves respectively.
The Commission's budget is used to pay the salaries of its permanent members and members of staff, the other members' attendance fees, and all other resources the Commission needs to perform its activities.
The House of Representatives also determines the staffing level of the Commission's secretariat, which equals 54 people.
